A NEW HOME FOR THE PATIENTS OF
ST. CLARE HOSPICE
The care of people who are affected by AIDS is an important part of our ministry nearly since the beginnings of our presence in Thailand. Even if the situation for people with AIDS is changed with the new possibilities of medical treatment, the need for the hospice remains constant. The floods that hit Thailand at the end of 2011 left heavy damages on the buildings of the hospice.
The small huts and bungalows we use as rooms have ceased to be a dignified home for our patients.
For the 30st anniversary of our presence in
|
|
Thailand we would like to offer a new building,a new place where they can live with dignity and where they can be treated according to their needs to our patients.

The Franciscans in Thailand
The Franciscans had arrived in Thailand already in 1582 but they left when Ayutthaya was destroyed in 1767.
In 1985 the Franciscans returned and began a new mission. By invitation of His Eminence Cardinal Michai Kitbunchu, the former cardinal of the archdiocese of Bangkok, the Franciscans bought a piece of land in Lamsai, Lamlukka and build a retreat center.
At present there are 9 missionary friars and 1 Thai friar with solemn profession and 2 Thai friars with temporary profession. There are several young men in initial formation and in vocational discernment.

For The Love To The Mother
by Fr. Alf. Gregorius Pontus, ofm
Pop is the name of the 8-year old girl who is the newest member of our St. Clare Hospice community. She came with her mother who has AIDS.
Look at her face: so cute, smart and healthy. One cannot see that the girl is infected with tuberculosis (TBC).
The first time she came to St. Clare Hospice in the middle of January 2013 she looked really dirty.
